Bring your kids along to get involved – Open Day is on May 31

Bring your kids with you to the Dandenong Bible Education Centre Open Day on May 31 and they can be involved in lots of fun. There will be kids’ craft activities, a colouring competition, face painting, balloons and other great activities. Open Day is planned to run from 11am-2pm, with activities suitable for young and old. With the kids happily occupied, you can take a look to see what is inside the Bible Education Centre. Come and talk about the Bible with our friendly staff. Relax and enjoy a cuppa and a cake. Browse through the library and shop stock. Look at the displays. There’s plenty to do, and with a free sausage sizzle out the front, your lunch is even taken care of.

Of course you are very welcome even if you don’t have kids! Please come.

Our shop manager is living in India for a year. Cathy Morgan will be staying in Hyderabad for most of this time. It’s pretty warm where she is – currently the days are 41-42 degrees Celsius, and it hasn’t reached summer yet!

Come to a Bible Study weekend

There will be an enjoyable Bible Study weekend in June which all are invited to.

Topic: Comprehending the Spirit of God.

Date: Friday June 6 – Monday June 9

Details: Closer to the time a detailed program will be sent to those who wish to come. Ask for information to be sent to you, using the contact details below.

The speaker from Sydney, Mr Ken Pooley, has written the following summary of the weekend’s Bible study:

“The Spirit of God can be a very challenging subject for some of us, and yet it is critical to understanding God and developing a close relationship with Him. This series takes a look at the Spirit in both the Old and New Testaments and we'll discuss a large number of the passages that refer to it. It won't provide all the answers but is designed to develop the breadth of our understanding of the way God works.”

Throughout the weekend we will enjoy some meals together and an outing is planned for Monday (the Queen’s birthday holiday).

Are you using your whole body for God?

What does God want from humans? What does he like us to do? What behaviour does he hate? Many people think that God is so loving that he doesn’t hate anything. However God makes it clear that there are some things he does hate. Let’s look in the book of Proverbs to find out God’s views.

Proverbs 6:16-19 says,

There are six things which the LORD hates, seven which are an abomination to him:

  1. Haughty eyes
  2. A lying tongue
  3. Hands that shed innocent blood
  4. A heart that devises wicked plans
  5. Feet that make haste to run to evil
  6. A false witness who breathes out lies
  7. A man who sows discord among brothers

These are some of the things which the LORD wants us to use our bodies for:

“The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”Psalm 19:8

“I will not put anything wicked in front of my eyes.”Psalm 101:3

“Therefore, putting away falsehood, let every one speak the truth with his neighbour.”Ephesians 4:25

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”Matthew 22:37

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might”Ecclesiastes 9:10

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news.”Romans 10:15

“He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?”Micah 6:8

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”Matthew 5:9

All our plans will take place if the Lord is willing
