Join us for an enjoyable Bible Study weekend! Friday November 7 – Sunday November 9. The topic is Josiah.
Josiah was a Jewish king in the seventh century BC who brought about major reforms in the country of Israel, which had turned to idolatry and wickedness. He showed the people how to worship God properly. We too can learn from Josiah how to improve our relationship, or start a relationship, with the God of the universe.
Come to dinner and the first study on Friday evening at 6.30pm (contact us for venue).
Join us on Saturday at 4.30pm for study two, followed by dinner at 6pm then study three at 7.30pm (all at the Bible Education Centre).
On Sunday the New Life Class is at 11.30am as usual, followed by lunch.
Each Sunday from 11.30-12.30 we hold a class covering a variety of Bible topics. All who attend are invited to stay to share lunch with us. God willing the topics for the next two months will be:

World economies are in chaos. You may be wondering what will happen to your investments, your superannuation and your standard of living. The Bible has much to say about money. Come into the shop to collect a leaflet entitled “What is better than money” to find out more.
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”
Hebrews 13:5
The Bible recounts the lives of men and women. Some of them were faithful; some were not. Either way, they had problems in their lives. For that’s how it is meant to be.
Jesus was a man who always did God’s will. Even when he knew that God’s will required him to suffer, Jesus put God’s will first. When he was about to be taken to be tried and crucified he said:
“Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42).
Surely, if any man did not deserve to suffer Jesus was that man. The Bible teaches that not only did God allow Jesus to be murdered but that He was involved in Jesus’ death. The apostle Peter said of Jesus:
“Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain” (Acts 2:23).
The fact is that God arranges events in the lives of believers for their benefit. He is concerned that we develop characters like that of Jesus. To this end he ‘chastens’ us as His children. This is explained in these words:
“My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth (Hebrews 12:5-6).
So we see that the one who would serve God must expect events in his life which he would prefer not to happen. It is all too easy to ask ‘Why me?’ when we are undergoing experiences that we do not like. However we should try to benefit from those experiences, for the apostle continues:
“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby” (Hebrews 12:11).

All plans are subject to the will of God
The prophet Elijah once ran faster than the king's chariot (which was in a hurry)? God gave him the speed. You can read about it in 1 Kings 18:45-46.
The love our Father has for us
Is a love beyond compare
A love so deep, so strong, so true
A love that’s always there.
No human love can reach this height
Of wonder and of grace
It can so often die – and leave
Indifference in its place.
God’s love was such, He gave His Son
To die, that we may live;
How much do we reciprocate
This love, in what we give?
This love should warm the coldest heart
A love so freely given
That sinners may respond to God,
And have their sins forgiven.
For God so loved this dying world
He gave His only son
To endure a shameful cruel death –
His sinless, holy one.
We have to give to God our heart
Our soul, our strength, our mind.
We have to imitate His Son,
Being holy, true and kind.
God’s love is not for everyone
But for those who seek His face.
May we always hearken to His words
And all His ways embrace.
