Readings for Wednesday 8th February
Full year chart
All our plans are subject to the will of God.
A new year! Already one month is gone, and how have you filled your time? If you want to spend more time with God this year, maybe you’d like to attend one of our Bible-based courses! Some details are here, but contact us if you want to find out more!
Now is the ideal time to enrol your baby and/or preschooler in the “Happy Faces” playgroup. Sessions go from 10:30am-12:30pm each Wednesday. Term 1 starts on February 8 and runs until March 28.
The start of the school year is also ideal for starting at “Bible Explorers” for children aged 4-12 years old. Enrol now!
Lessons start on February 5 and run each Sunday from 11:30am-12:30pm.
Join a discussion group each Monday, led by David Caudery, that examines vital Bible truths.
During February, the main topic for discussion is “What does the Bible really say about what happens to me when I die?” Maybe you have some ideas already, or maybe you don’t—either way this is a lively class to join, and you may be surprised at what you learn.
The group plans to meet from 11:00am until 12:30pm each Monday.
Each Thursday, a small group of women enjoys gathering to discuss the Bible.
Beginning on Thursday February 2, this class will look at the topic “Women of the Bible”. This friendly class runs from 10:30am-12:00pm and includes sharing refreshments and a time to chat.
If you are a lady who would like to learn more about some of the women the Bible describes, come along!
What is your relationship with God? Did you know that the Bible teaches that it is through Jesus that we can draw near to God?
Learn more on Thursdays from 7:30pm-9:00pm.
Do you want to improve your English skills? Come to the “Learn English using the Bible” course each Tuesday evening, from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
In this class many aspects of the English language are taught, using the Bible as a basis. Meet others who are learning English too.
(11:30am—12:30pm each Sunday)
Bible related topics for the coming weeks are as follows:
February 5—Jesus: son of God and son of man
February 12—Our need for saving: sin and death
February 19—The sacrifice of Jesus
February 26—Baptism into Jesus
Do you feel tied to modern technology? Here’s a poem to start you thinking!
Did Jesus use a modem at the Sermon on the Mount?
Did he ever try a bluetooth link to send his message out?
Did disciples carry ipods as they went about their route?
Did Jesus use a modem at the Sermon on the Mount?
Did Paul use a laptop with lots of RAM and ROM?
Were his letters on a blogsite at Paul.rome.com?
Did the man from Macedonia only twitter saying “Come”?
Did Paul use a laptop with lots of RAM and ROM?
Did Moses use a joystick at the parting of the Sea?
And a Global Positioning System to show him where to be?
Did he write the Law on tablets, or are they really on CD?
Did Moses use a joystick at the parting of the Sea?
Did Jesus really die for us one day upon a tree?
Or was it just a hologram, or technical wizardry?
Can you view the action video clip, to play in MP3?
Did Jesus really die for us one day upon a tree?
Have the wonders of this modern age made you question what is true?
How a single man, in a simple time, could offer life anew?
How a sinless life, a cruel death, then a glorious future too,
Could offer more to a desperate world, than the inventions he never knew?
If in your life the voice of God is sometimes hard to hear,
With other voices calling; His doesn’t touch your ear;
Then set aside your laptop, your phone and fancy gear,
And open up your Bible and let your Father draw you near.

Do your children like to get their own letters? Do they enjoy stories, questions and puzzles? Do they enjoy the Bible, or do you think they might?
We are now offering a correspondence course for children named “Bible Friends”. In this simple course there are 25 lessons with Bible stories, and puzzles. What’s more there are small prizes to be won for returning answers to the puzzles. If they persevere to the end there is even a Bible awarded!
So what’s stopping you? Ask for lesson one to be sent to your child(ren), and if you like the look of it, we can continue sending the whole series—posted fornightly. If you choose not to continue with the set, we won’t pester you!
Phone, email or write to us (our details are on the bottom of the other side of this page), sending your address, and we’ll mail the first one out for a trial.
Don’t forget that we also have Sunday School classes on Sunday mornings called “Bible Explorers”. These small classes run from 11:30am-12:30pm.
